I believe it is frightening how the debate about the conflict regarding Russia and Georgia is evolving. The climate in international politics considering the great powers seemed to be mild and non-conflictual. Now however the climate has changed and The Western countries react in a way I believe only furthers the gap between Russia and the West. Of course it is very worrying that Russia disregards another country’s sovereignty and uses military force, but it is also worrying how quickly the Western countries are to judge this act. The problem however lies in the escalating armament that becomes the consequence of this. The Swedish government speaks in media how there is going to be more financial support to the military sector so that it can grow. This because there is a belief that there now is a militaristic threat from Russia. Is it really Georgia the US and Europe cares about with their criticism to Russia? The US has enjoyed itself as unipolarism in the World Society since the Post-Cold War and has acted in an isolationistic way, which Bush now condemns in the Russians actions instead. I think no country should use military force to hurt anybody. I also believe that there should be a greater compromise and understanding between countries and all other levels of units (companies, NGOs, cultures, societies, interstate organizations etc.).
